Remote Python Engineer - FastAPI Specialist

Role Overview Turing, a globally recognised AI research accelerator headquartered in San Francisco, is looking for a skilled Python Developer with deep expertise in FastAPI to contribute to an innovative Reinforcement Learning Gym project. This is a fully remote contract engagement offering you the chance to build scalable backend systems that power cutting-edge AI experimentation and simulation workflows. You will collaborate closely with machine learning researchers and engineers to develop APIs that support training, evaluation, and benchmarking pipelines. Key Responsibilities - Design, develop, and maintain FastAPI-based services tailored for ML experimentation workflows and simulation environments - Partner with ML engineers to expose and manage APIs for model training, evaluation, and performance benchmarking - Write clean, efficient, and production-grade Python code with a strong focus on scalability and long-term maintainability - Diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks, optimise data pipelines, and ensure reliable deployment of backend applications - Participate in code reviews and uphold software engineering best practices across the development lifecycle Required Qualifications - Minimum 4 years of professional Python development experience with at least 3 years of hands-on FastAPI expertise - Solid experience working with REST APIs, asynchronous programming, and end-to-end API lifecycle management - Strong grasp of software engineering fundamentals including testing, CI/CD practices, version control, and design patterns - Familiarity with data and ML libraries such as NumPy, Pandas, and PyTorch or TensorFlow is a bonus - Exposure to Reinforcement Learning environments like OpenAI Gym, Gymnasium, or Stable Baselines is an added advantage - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related discipline Why Join Us Turing gives you the flexibility of a fully remote setup while placing you at the forefront of frontier AI development alongside top researchers and leading LLM companies.
