Remote Python Engineer (FastAPI)

Role Overview Turing is a San Francisco-based global AI research accelerator and enterprise AI partner, working with frontier AI labs and large organisations to build high-performance AI systems. We are looking for a skilled Python Developer with deep expertise in FastAPI to contribute to an exciting Reinforcement Learning (RL) Gym project. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and optimising scalable backend APIs that power reinforcement learning experiments and simulation environments. Key Responsibilities - Design, develop, and maintain FastAPI-based services supporting experimentation workflows and RL simulation environments - Collaborate closely with ML engineers to expose APIs for model training, evaluation, and benchmarking tasks - Write clean, efficient, and production-ready Python code with a focus on scalability and long-term maintainability - Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, optimise data pipelines, and ensure smooth application deployment - Follow software engineering best practices including testing, CI/CD integration, version control, and design patterns Required Qualifications - 4 or more years of professional Python development experience with at least 3 years of hands-on FastAPI expertise - Strong knowledge of REST APIs, asynchronous programming, and end-to-end API lifecycle management - Familiarity with NumPy, Pandas, and deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow is a plus - Exposure to Reinforcement Learning environments like OpenAI Gym, Gymnasium, or Stable Baselines is an added advantage - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline Why Join Us Turing offers you the freedom of a fully remote work setup with the opportunity to collaborate on cutting-edge AI projects alongside leading LLM companies and top researchers worldwide. - 4+ years of professional Python development experience - 3+ years of strong hands-on experience with FastAPI - Proficiency in REST APIs and asynchronous programming - Knowledge of API lifecycle management - Solid grasp of software engineering best practices including CI/CD and version control - Familiarity with NumPy and Pandas - Exposure to PyTorch or TensorFlow is a plus - Experience with Reinforcement Learning environments such as OpenAI Gym or Gymnasium is a plus - SQL experience is a plus - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field - Availability of at least 4 hours per day with minimum 20 hours per week and 4-hour overlap with PST
