Remote Python Engineer (FastAPI)

Role Overview Turing, a San Francisco-based AI research accelerator and enterprise AI partner, is looking for a skilled Python Developer with deep expertise in FastAPI to contribute to an innovative Reinforcement Learning (RL) Gym project. In this remote contractor role, you will be responsible for designing and delivering robust backend services that power RL experiments and simulations. You will work closely with machine learning engineers and researchers to build scalable, production-grade API infrastructure. Key Responsibilities - Design, build, and maintain FastAPI-based services to support experimentation workflows and simulation environments - Collaborate with ML engineers to create and expose APIs for model training, evaluation, and benchmarking - Write clean, efficient, and maintainable Python code with a strong focus on scalability - Troubleshoot performance bottlenecks, optimize data pipelines, and ensure reliable deployment of backend applications Required Qualifications - 4 or more years of professional Python development experience with at least 3 years of hands-on FastAPI expertise - Solid experience with REST APIs, asynchronous programming, and API lifecycle management - Strong understanding of software engineering best practices including testing, CI/CD, version control, and design patterns - Familiarity with NumPy, Pandas, and PyTorch or TensorFlow is a plus - Exposure to Reinforcement Learning environments such as OpenAI Gym, Gymnasium, or Stable Baselines is an added advantage - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline Why Join Us Turing offers the flexibility of a fully remote work environment along with the rare opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge AI research projects in collaboration with leading global LLM companies.
