Remote Python Developer with FastAPI Expertise

Role Overview Turing, a San Francisco-based global AI research accelerator and enterprise AI partner, is looking for a skilled Python Developer with deep FastAPI expertise to contribute to an innovative Reinforcement Learning Gym project. In this fully remote contract role, you will be responsible for building and maintaining robust backend services that power RL experiments, simulations, and evaluation workflows. You will work alongside machine learning engineers and researchers to deliver scalable, production-ready APIs that drive meaningful AI research outcomes. Key Responsibilities - Design, develop, and maintain FastAPI-based backend services supporting RL experimentation and simulation environments - Collaborate closely with ML engineers to expose and manage APIs for model training, evaluation, and benchmarking pipelines - Write clean, efficient, and production-grade Python code with a focus on scalability and long-term maintainability - Troubleshoot and resolve performance bottlenecks, optimise data pipelines, and support smooth application deployment - Participate in code reviews and follow software engineering best practices including CI/CD, version control, and design patterns Required Qualifications - Minimum 4 years of professional Python development experience with at least 3 years of hands-on FastAPI work - Strong understanding of REST API design, async programming, and full API lifecycle management - Solid grasp of software engineering fundamentals including testing, CI/CD processes, and version control - Familiarity with NumPy, Pandas, and deep learning libraries such as PyTorch or TensorFlow is a plus - Exposure to Reinforcement Learning environments such as OpenAI Gym, Gymnasium, or Stable Baselines is desirable but not required - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field Why Join Us Turing offers the opportunity to work remotely on cutting-edge AI projects in collaboration with leading LLM companies and frontier AI research teams worldwide.
