Remote Python Developer (FastAPI)

Role Overview Turing, a San Francisco-based global AI research accelerator and enterprise AI partner, is looking for a skilled Python Developer with deep expertise in FastAPI to contribute to an innovative Reinforcement Learning (RL) Gym project. In this fully remote contractor role, you will build and maintain scalable backend services that power RL experimentation workflows and simulation environments. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Python professionals to work alongside top AI researchers and ML engineers on cutting-edge frontier AI systems. Key Responsibilities - Design, develop, and maintain robust FastAPI-based services to support experimentation pipelines and simulation environments - Collaborate with machine learning engineers to expose and manage APIs for model training, evaluation, and benchmarking tasks - Write clean, efficient, and production-grade Python code with a strong focus on scalability, performance, and long-term maintainability - Diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks, optimize data pipelines, and ensure reliable deployment of backend applications Required Qualifications - Minimum 4 years of professional Python development experience with at least 3 years of hands-on FastAPI expertise - Solid knowledge of REST APIs, asynchronous programming, and end-to-end API lifecycle management - Strong grasp of software engineering best practices including unit testing, CI/CD pipelines, version control, and design patterns - Familiarity with NumPy, Pandas, and deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow is an added advantage - Exposure to Reinforcement Learning environments like OpenAI Gym, Gymnasium, or Stable Baselines is a bonus, not a requirement - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related discipline Why Join Us Turing offers you the freedom to work remotely while contributing to some of the most advanced AI projects in the world alongside leading LLM companies and frontier AI labs.
