Remote Python Developer (FastAPI)

Role Overview Turing is a San Francisco-based global AI research accelerator and enterprise AI partner, working with frontier AI labs and large-scale deployments worldwide. We are looking for a skilled Python Developer with deep expertise in FastAPI to contribute to an exciting Reinforcement Learning Gym project. In this role, you will design and build robust backend APIs, collaborate closely with ML researchers and engineers, and help power cutting-edge reinforcement learning experiments and simulations. Key Responsibilities - Design, develop, and maintain FastAPI-based services to support experimentation workflows and simulation environments - Work alongside ML engineers to expose and manage APIs for model training, evaluation, and benchmarking tasks - Write clean, production-grade Python code with a focus on scalability, performance, and long-term maintainability - Troubleshoot and resolve performance bottlenecks, optimize data pipelines, and support smooth application deployment Required Qualifications - 4 or more years of professional Python development experience with at least 3 years of hands-on FastAPI expertise - Strong working knowledge of REST APIs, asynchronous programming, and end-to-end API lifecycle management - Solid grounding in software engineering best practices including testing, CI/CD pipelines, version control, and design patterns - Familiarity with NumPy, Pandas, and deep learning frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow is an added advantage - Exposure to Reinforcement Learning environments such as OpenAI Gym, Gymnasium, or Stable Baselines is a bonus - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline Why Join Us Turing offers a fully remote freelance engagement giving you the flexibility to work from anywhere while contributing to some of the most advanced AI projects in the world. - 4 or more years of professional Python development experience - Minimum 3 years of strong hands-on experience with FastAPI - Expertise in REST APIs and asynchronous programming - Knowledge of API lifecycle management - Familiarity with software engineering best practices including testing, CI/CD, and version control - Working knowledge of NumPy and Pandas - Exposure to PyTorch or TensorFlow is a plus - Knowledge of Reinforcement Learning environments such as OpenAI Gym or Gymnasium is a bonus - SQL experience is a plus - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field - Availability of at least 4 hours per day with a minimum of 20 hours per week and 4 hours overlap with PST
