Remote Python Developer (FastAPI)

Role Overview Turing is a globally recognised research accelerator and enterprise AI partner headquartered in San Francisco, California. We are looking for a skilled Python Developer with deep expertise in FastAPI to contribute to an exciting Reinforcement Learning Gym project. This is a fully remote contractor engagement offering the opportunity to work alongside top researchers and engineers building next-generation AI infrastructure. Key Responsibilities - Design, build, and maintain scalable FastAPI-based services supporting experimentation workflows and RL simulation environments - Collaborate with machine learning engineers to expose clean, reliable APIs for model training, evaluation, and benchmarking tasks - Write production-grade Python code with a strong focus on performance, scalability, and long-term maintainability - Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, optimise data pipelines, and ensure smooth deployment of backend services Required Qualifications - Minimum 4 years of professional Python development experience with at least 3 years of hands-on FastAPI work - Proven experience building and managing REST APIs, handling async programming, and managing full API lifecycles - Strong grasp of software engineering best practices including testing frameworks, CI/CD workflows, version control, and design patterns - Familiarity with NumPy, Pandas, and deep learning libraries such as PyTorch or TensorFlow is an added advantage - Exposure to Reinforcement Learning environments such as OpenAI Gym, Gymnasium, or Stable Baselines is a plus - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related discipline Why Join Us Turing gives you the flexibility to work fully remotely while contributing to cutting-edge AI projects in collaboration with leading LLM companies and frontier research teams.
