Remote Machine Learning Engineer

Role Overview Turing is a globally recognised AI research accelerator and enterprise AI partner headquartered in San Francisco, California. The company is seeking experienced Machine Learning Engineers to contribute to benchmark-driven evaluation projects centred on real-world ML systems. This is a fully remote contractor engagement ideal for professionals who can confidently bridge the gap between AI research and hands-on engineering. Key Responsibilities - Work with production-grade ML codebases to support MLE Bench-style evaluation and assessment tasks - Build, run, and modify model training, evaluation, and inference pipelines for benchmark validation - Prepare datasets, features, and performance metrics for ML benchmarking workflows - Debug, refactor, and optimise production-like ML systems for correctness and overall performance - Evaluate model behaviour, failure modes, and edge cases relevant to benchmark objectives - Write clean, reproducible, and well-documented Python code for end-to-end ML workflows - Participate in code reviews to uphold high standards of engineering quality - Collaborate with researchers and engineers to design challenging, real-world ML tasks for AI system evaluation Required Qualifications - Minimum 3 years of experience as a Machine Learning Engineer or Software Engineer with an ML focus - Strong proficiency in Python for machine learning and data-centric workflows - Hands-on experience with model training, evaluation, and inference pipelines - Solid understanding of ML fundamentals including supervised and unsupervised learning, evaluation metrics, and optimisation techniques - Practical experience with ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX, or equivalent - Demonstrated ability to navigate, understand, and modify complex real-world ML codebases - Experience writing readable, reusable, and maintainable production-quality code - Strong problem-solving and debugging skills with excellent written and spoken English communication Why Join Us Turing offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge AI projects alongside some of the world's leading LLM companies, all in a fully remote and flexible environment.
