Remote LLM Trainer - Agent Function Calling

Role Overview Turing is one of the fastest-growing AI companies in the world, working at the frontier of large language model development and real-world AI deployment. This contract role is part of a specialised project supporting a leading foundational LLM company in improving model capabilities through high-quality proprietary training data. As an LLM Trainer focused on Agent Function Calling, you will generate realistic multi-turn conversations between simulated users and AI assistants that use function-calling tools such as calendar, email, maps, and drive apps, helping models learn how to reason, plan, and execute tasks intelligently. Key Responsibilities - Design and craft multi-turn dialogues that simulate natural interactions between users and AI assistants across a range of real-world scenarios - Play both the user and the assistant roles in conversations, including simulating tool calls and function-calling sequences where appropriate - Select and apply available tools with logical precision to ensure conversations reflect proper API usage and realistic decision-making - Generate training examples that demonstrate the assistant's ability to complete feasible tasks, identify infeasible requests, and engage in general chat when tools are not needed - Follow internal playbooks and formatting guidelines to ensure all outputs meet defined quality and structure standards - Iterate on conversation examples based on reviewer feedback to improve realism, clarity, and training value - Collaborate with peers and reviewers to maintain consistency and high standards across all deliverables Required Qualifications - Minimum 3 years of professional experience in a technical or analytical field - Strong grasp of APIs, data formats such as JSON, and logical problem-solving skills - Experience in any programming language or technology stack is acceptable - Excellent written communication skills in English with a focus on clarity and tone - Ability to simulate realistic assistant behaviour and break down complex multi-step tasks - Creative thinking and strong attention to detail in building scenario-based dialogues - Experience with LLMs, virtual assistants, or function-calling frameworks is an added advantage - Ability to commit at least 20 hours per week with a 4-hour overlap with PST timezone Why Join Us This is a fully remote freelance opportunity to work on cutting-edge AI training projects alongside some of the world's leading LLM companies.
