Remote Data Scientist

Role Overview Turing is a San Francisco-based AI research accelerator and enterprise AI partner that works with frontier AI labs and global organisations. The company is seeking experienced Data Scientists and Data Engineers to contribute to benchmark-driven AI evaluation projects that involve real-world data workflows, production-like datasets, and advanced data pipelines. This is a fully remote contractor opportunity for professionals who want to work on cutting-edge AI systems and contribute meaningfully to large language model research and development. Key Responsibilities - Work with structured and unstructured datasets to support SWE Bench-style evaluation and benchmarking tasks - Design, build, and validate data pipelines used in AI benchmarking and evaluation workflows - Perform data processing, feature preparation, analysis, and validation for data science use cases - Write, run, and modify Python code to process data and support experiments in local environments - Evaluate data quality, transformations, and outputs to ensure correctness and reproducibility - Create clean, well-documented, and reusable data workflows suitable for benchmarking purposes - Participate in code reviews to maintain high standards of code quality and long-term maintainability - Collaborate with researchers and engineers to design challenging real-world data engineering tasks for AI system evaluation Required Qualifications - Minimum 3 years of experience as a Data Engineer, Data Scientist, or data-focused Software Engineer - Strong proficiency in Python for data engineering and data science workflows - Solid understanding of machine learning fundamentals and data science principles - Demonstrated experience with data processing, analysis, and model-related workflows - Experience working with both structured and unstructured datasets - Ability to navigate, understand, and modify complex real-world codebases - Strong problem-solving skills including experience with algorithmic or data-intensive challenges - Excellent spoken and written English communication skills Why Join Us Turing offers a fully remote working environment where you can collaborate with top AI researchers and contribute to pioneering projects with leading LLM companies across the globe. - Minimum 3 years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Science, or data-focused Software Engineering - Strong Python programming skills for data and ML workflows - Experience with data processing, analysis, and model-related pipelines - Solid understanding of machine learning and data science fundamentals - Hands-on experience with structured and unstructured data - Ability to navigate and modify complex real-world codebases - Experience writing readable, reusable, and well-documented code - Strong algorithmic and data-intensive problem-solving skills - Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal - Availability of at least 4 hours per day with minimum 20 hours per week and 4-hour overlap with PST
