Remote Data Engineer

Role Overview Turing, a San Francisco-based global leader in frontier AI research and enterprise AI deployment, is seeking experienced Data Engineers and Data Scientists to join its remote contractor team. This role is focused on benchmark-driven evaluation projects that test and improve the performance of advanced AI systems using real-world data engineering and data science workflows. You will work on production-like datasets and pipelines that directly contribute to the development of next-generation AI capabilities. Key Responsibilities - Work with structured and unstructured datasets to support SWE Bench-style evaluation and benchmarking tasks - Design, build, and validate data pipelines used in AI performance benchmarking and evaluation workflows - Perform data processing, feature preparation, analysis, and validation for data science use cases - Write, run, and modify Python code to process data and support experiments in local environments - Evaluate data quality, transformations, and outputs for correctness and reproducibility - Create clean, well-documented, and reusable data workflows suitable for benchmarking purposes - Participate in code reviews to maintain high standards of code quality and maintainability - Collaborate with researchers and engineers to design challenging real-world data engineering tasks for AI systems Required Qualifications - Minimum 3 years of experience as a Data Engineer, Data Scientist, or data-focused Software Engineer - Strong proficiency in Python for data engineering and data science workflows - Demonstrable experience with data processing, analysis, and model-related workflows - Solid understanding of machine learning and data science fundamentals - Experience working with both structured and unstructured data - Ability to understand, navigate, and modify complex real-world codebases - Experience writing readable, reusable, and well-documented code - Strong problem-solving skills with experience in algorithmic or data-intensive problems - Excellent spoken and written English communication skills Why Join Us Turing offers a fully remote work environment where you can contribute to cutting-edge AI projects in collaboration with leading LLM companies worldwide.
