Remote Data Engineer

Role Overview Turing, a San Francisco-based global leader in frontier AI research and enterprise AI deployment, is hiring experienced Data Engineers and Data Scientists for benchmark-driven evaluation projects. This is a fully remote contractor role focused on real-world data engineering and data science workflows designed to evaluate and improve the performance of advanced AI systems. You will work on production-like datasets, data pipelines, and model-related tasks alongside top researchers and engineers at the cutting edge of AI development. Key Responsibilities - Work with structured and unstructured datasets to support SWE Bench-style evaluation and benchmarking tasks - Design, build, and validate data pipelines used in AI evaluation workflows - Perform data processing, feature preparation, and validation for data science use cases - Write, run, and modify Python code to process data and support local experiments - Evaluate data quality, transformations, and outputs for correctness and reproducibility - Create clean, well-documented, and reusable data workflows suitable for benchmarking - Participate in code reviews to maintain high standards of code quality - Collaborate with researchers and engineers to design challenging real-world data engineering tasks for AI systems Required Qualifications - Minimum 3 years of experience as a Data Engineer, Data Scientist, or data-focused Software Engineer - Strong proficiency in Python for data engineering and data science workflows - Hands-on experience with data processing, analysis, and model-related workflows - Solid understanding of machine learning and data science fundamentals - Experience working with both structured and unstructured data - Ability to navigate, understand, and modify complex real-world codebases - Proven ability to write readable, reusable, and well-documented code - Strong problem-solving skills with experience in algorithmic or data-intensive problems - Excellent written and spoken English communication skills Why Join Us This is a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge AI benchmarking projects alongside leading LLM companies in a fully flexible remote work environment. - 3 or more years of experience in data engineering, data science, or data-focused software engineering - Strong Python programming skills for data and ML workflows - Experience with data pipelines, processing, and transformation - Solid grasp of machine learning and data science fundamentals - Ability to work with structured and unstructured datasets - Experience navigating and modifying complex production codebases - Strong problem-solving and algorithmic thinking skills - Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal - Availability of at least 20 hours per week with 4 hours overlap with PST
