– NPI Engineer (Automotive Cable & Wiring Harness) Job Title: NPI Engineer Department: New Product Introduction (NPI) / Manufacturing Engineering Location: Bengaluru / Mysuru (as applicable)

Experience:

5–7 Years Industry: Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) – Automotive Job Summary We are seeking an experienced NPI Engineer with 5–7 years of

experience

in the Automotive EMS industry, specializing in cable and wiring harness manufacturing. The candidate will be responsible for managing New Product Introduction (NPI) activities from product transfer through production launch, ensuring robust manufacturing processes, quality compliance, and successful project execution.

Key Responsibilities

Lead end-to-end New Product Introduction (NPI) activities for automotive cable and wiring harness projects. Review customer drawings, specifications, BOMs, and technical

requirements

to ensure manufacturability. Develop manufacturing processes, work instructions, and process flow documentation for new products. Conduct Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) and prepare Process Control Plans. Support PPAP documentation and customer submission activities. Plan and execute First Article Inspection (FAI) activities in accordance with customer and automotive requirements. Perform manufacturing risk assessments and implement effective risk mitigation plans throughout the NPI lifecycle. Prepare and submit Manufacturing Information Files (MIF) and other NPI documentation as required. Coordinate with cross-functional teams including Design, Quality, Production, Supply Chain, and Customers to ensure successful product launches. Validate manufacturing processes, production equipment, tools, jigs, and fixtures before mass production. Drive process improvements using Lean Manufacturing principles and basic Six Sigma tools. Monitor pilot builds, resolve manufacturing issues, and support smooth transition to serial production. Ensure compliance with customer-specific requirements, IPC standards, and automotive quality management systems. Required

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline. 5–7 years of relevant

experience

in Automotive EMS, specifically in cable and wiring harness manufacturing. Technical

Skills

Strong knowledge of Automotive New Product Introduction (NPI) processes. Hands-on

experience

in automotive cable and wiring harness manufacturing. Good understanding of IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards for cable and wire harness assemblies.

Experience

with PFMEA, Process Control Plans, PPAP, and First Article Inspection (FAI). Knowledge of Manufacturing Information File (MIF) preparation and submission.

Experience

in process validation, machine qualification, and production readiness activities. Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and basic Six Sigma tools. Ability to interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, BOMs, and customer specifications. Understanding of automotive quality systems and customer requirements. Soft

Skills

Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. Effective project coordination and stakeholder management. Ability to work in cross-functional and customer-facing environments. Strong planning, documentation, and organizational skills. Preferred

Qualifications

Exposure to Automotive Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, MSA, SPC). Knowledge of IATF 16949 quality management systems.

Experience

in customer audits and production readiness reviews. Certification in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma (Green Belt) is an added advantage.
