Networking QA Engineer

Role Overview Tata Elxsi is seeking a talented Networking QA Engineer to join its Chennai team on an immediate basis. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in Layer 2 and Layer 3 protocol testing combined with strong automation skills in Java or Python. You will be central to validating networking features, building robust automation frameworks, and delivering high-quality networking products. Key Responsibilities - Design, develop, and execute comprehensive test plans for L2 and L3 networking features and protocols - Perform functional, regression, and system-level testing on networking devices including routers, switches, and firewalls - Build and maintain test automation frameworks using Java or Python and integrate them with CI/CD pipelines - Validate L2 protocols such as VLAN, STP, RSTP, MSTP, and LACP as well as L3 protocols including IPv4/IPv6, OSPF, BGP, RIP, and VRRP - Analyse packet captures using tools like Wireshark and tcpdump to troubleshoot and identify root causes of network issues - Collaborate with development teams to reproduce and resolve defects, and participate in code reviews for automation scripts - Maintain test documentation, defect tracking reports, and support continuous integration and automated test execution Required Qualifications - Strong understanding of the OSI model and core networking fundamentals - Hands-on experience with L2 and L3 protocol configuration and testing - Proficiency in test automation using Java or Python - Experience designing or working within test automation frameworks - Familiarity with packet analysis tools such as Wireshark and tcpdump - Working knowledge of REST APIs, automation libraries, and Linux or Unix environments - Understanding of QA methodologies and the software testing lifecycle - Experience with network automation tools such as Ansible, Netmiko, or PyATS is a plus - Exposure to CI/CD tools like Jenkins or GitLab CI is preferred Why Join Us Tata Elxsi is a globally recognised technology design and services company where you will work on cutting-edge networking products alongside world-class engineering teams.
