Lead Platform Engineer

Role Overview slice is on a mission to reimagine banking for a new generation of Indians by building fast, transparent, and delightful financial products. We are looking for a seasoned Lead Platform Engineer to spearhead developer productivity initiatives, drive release velocity, and architect scalable internal platforms that empower engineering teams across the organisation. This is a hands-on leadership role that blends deep technical execution with strategic thinking to shape the future of our engineering infrastructure. Key Responsibilities - Lead the Platform Engineering team focused on developer productivity, defining the vision, strategy, and execution roadmap - Design, build, and maintain internal tools and platforms that streamline CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks, and infrastructure automation - Drive the adoption of cloud-native technologies including Kubernetes, AWS, ephemeral environments, and service monitoring solutions - Collaborate with engineering leaders to align developer experience initiatives with organisational goals and OKRs - Champion best practices in continuous delivery, developer efficiency, and operational excellence across teams - Evangelise platform work through workshops, training sessions, cross-team collaboration, conference talks, blogs, and open-source contributions - Mentor engineers, nurture a culture of experimentation, and inspire innovation within and beyond the team Required Qualifications - 5 or more years of software engineering experience with a minimum of 2 years in platform engineering or developer productivity roles - Strong expertise in Kubernetes, AWS, CI/CD pipelines, and tools such as Spinnaker, Jenkins, or ArgoCD along with Infrastructure as Code practices - Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks, dynamic test selection, and code quality gates - Proficiency in Go, Python, or Java with a strong preference for Go for tooling and framework development - Experience designing ephemeral environments and implementing monitoring and observability solutions - Demonstrated ability to lead small teams, mentor engineers, and drive large-scale platform initiatives - Contributions to open-source projects or participation in programmes like Google Summer of Code would be a significant advantage - Strong communication skills with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders effectively Why Join Us At slice, you will get to build products you would actually use yourself while working alongside some of the brightest engineering minds in the country. - 5+ years in software engineering with at least 2 years in platform or developer productivity roles - Expertise in Kubernetes and AWS cloud-native solutions - Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as Spinnaker, Jenkins, and ArgoCD - Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code practices - Strong coding skills in Go, Python, or Java (Go preferred) - Experience with test automation frameworks and code quality gates - Experience designing ephemeral environments and observability tooling - Proven track record of leading teams and mentoring engineers - Open-source contributions or GSoC background is a strong plus - Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
