IDMS application DBA

Role Overview Cognizant is seeking an experienced IDMS Application DBA to serve as a senior infrastructure architect specializing in mainframe and database applications. Based in Bengaluru, you will shape resilient, secure, and scalable database solutions that optimize critical telecom platforms. This role is key to enhancing system reliability and performance for high-volume transaction processing systems. Key Responsibilities - Design end-to-end infrastructure architectures for telecom applications relying on IMS databases. - Develop database deployment strategies across IMS, IDMS, and mainframe DB2 platforms. - Optimize IMS database schemas, access paths, and buffer configurations to reduce contention. - Configure and fine-tune IDMS database environments to support complex transaction processing. - Administer DB2 application databases by managing database objects and tuning SQL queries. - Implement standardized backup, recovery, and data protection practices across platforms. - Document reference architectures, runbooks, batch schedules, and environment diagrams. - Collaborate with security teams to apply hardening practices and database access controls. Required Qualifications - Extensive experience in infrastructure architecture specializing in mainframe database design. - Hands-on expertise as an IDMS application database administrator in the telecom domain. - Strong practical knowledge of DB2 application database administration and performance tuning. - Solid understanding of telecom industry processes, standards, and compliance regulations. - Advanced skills in performance analysis, capacity planning, and mainframe workload management. - Excellent communication skills to work effectively in a hybrid team model.
