Director of Software Development, Amazon Shipping

Role Overview Amazon Shipping is looking for a strategic Director of Software Development to lead our engineering and science teams in Hyderabad. In this high-impact role, you will manage an organization of over 130 professionals responsible for building the vehicle capacity routing and fulfillment technology behind our global parcel delivery business. Join us to build a differentiated, tech-enabled shipping network that processes hundreds of millions of packages. Key Responsibilities - Lead and manage Amazon Shipping engineering teams (130+ FTEs) in India. - Drive key customer outcomes including promise eligibility, label conversion, and speed. - Formulate three-year architectural plans and make critical technology trade-off decisions. - Partner with product, program, science, design, and engineering teams to build solutions. - Recruit and develop high-caliber engineering managers and individual contributors. - Lead strategy and roadmap discussions with executives and present narrative documents. - Oversee charters for demand forecasting, claims, billing, payments, and quality assurance. - Proactively identify capabilities and optimize processes to mitigate shipping network complexity. Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related engineering field. - Minimum of 15 years of software engineering experience. - At least 8 years of experience managing senior engineering managers. - Strong understanding of best practices for the full software development life cycle. - Background in AI, machine learning, natural language processing, and related sciences.
