About the Organization: Swaniti Initiative is an ecosystem builder working toward a sustainable future in a climate constrained world. It has a strong legacy of working in South Asia on supporting Parliamentarians and sub-national governments on designing and delivering interventions that respond to the climate crisis. Swaniti Initiative is now expanding its footprint in Indonesia and working on energy transition efforts. Swaniti Initiative is undertaking a comprehensive technical support program focused on supporting the economic diversification of mining communities in Indonesia. Additionally, we are working on pathways in mobilizing public funds most efficiently in large scale energy initiatives. And looking to support the private sector in decarbonization efforts. Our work aims to support the government of Indonesia in finding economic pathways on energy transition. It involves conducting comprehensive research,

assessments, aspiration analysis, and demographic studies to inform key policymakers and support a just transition in these regions. As our work grows, we are hoping to onboard an Associate for Energy Transition who can lead our work in country and support in fulfilling Swaniti’s vision. Job
Responsibilities
The Associate – Energy Transition will support the Indonesia Country team, working under the guidance of the Country Lead, to advance the organization's work on energy transition and related sectors, including power, industrial decarbonization, and blue carbon initiatives. The role combines research, analytical, coordination, and implementation.
Responsibilities
to support high-quality program delivery — translating program priorities into on-ground research, stakeholder engagement, knowledge products, and implementation support. The Associate is expected to work effectively in dynamic environment that may evolve in response to policy development and program needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Research & Technical Support Conduct evidence-based primary and secondary research on power sector reform, industrial decarbonization, blue carbon, and aligned energy transition issues to develop policy briefs, research papers, and knowledge products. Track national and sub-national policies, government programs, sectoral challenges, and emerging innovations and best practices; take expert consultations where necessary. Provide technical and analytical inputs to the Country Lead for program design, briefing materials, and stakeholder engagements. Ensure all outputs are well-researched, factually accurate, and aligned with program objectives and internal quality standards. 2. Program Implementation Support Support translation of program work plans into research tasks, field activities, and deliverables. Support program implementation through field visits, stakeholder engagement, public-facing events, and coordination with government, civil society, think tanks, and other partners at national and sub-national levels. Monitor progress on assigned deliverables and flag implementation challenges to the Country Lead. Adapt implementation plans, and deliverables in response to the changing environment while maintaining quality and timely delivery 3. Stakeholder Engagement Engage with diverse stakeholders — government departments, private sector, development partners, and civil society — to gather insights and support evidence-based policy making. Prepare briefing materials, meeting notes, and follow-ups for stakeholder discussions. Participate in stakeholder discussions in a supporting capacity. 4. Convening & Program Activities Support coordination of workshops, round-tables, and discussions, including agenda-setting, logistics, and documentation. 5. Monitoring & Reporting Support tracking of progress against program outputs, outcomes, and KPIs. Compile data into reports and insights; help identify gaps and evidence-based recommendations. Prepare high-quality reports, policy briefs, impact assessments, and success stories in internally standardized, accessible formats. 6. Communications & Knowledge Management Contribute to communication initiatives, including content development and public outreach to amplify policy insights and program impact. Maintain tracking systems and contribute to internal knowledge management.
Requirements
Education
Postgraduate degree in Energy Studies, Environmental Science, Climate Change, Economics, Public Policy, Development Studies, Sustainability, Engineering, or a related field.
Experience
Minimum 2 to 3 years of full-time, post-graduate professional

Demonstrated adaptability to understand policy and technical topics and synthesize complex information into clear, actionable outputs. Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to conduct primary and secondary research and translate findings into clear, actionable insights. Familiarity with Indonesia's energy and climate policy landscape. Effective communication in Bahasa Indonesia and English (written and verbal). Familiarity with data visualization tools and knowledge dissemination formats. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); proficiency in visual storytelling tools such as Canva is a plus.
