Accounts Payable Assistant

Role Overview Uniserve is hiring an Accounts Payable Assistant to support the purchase ledger function within its newly established finance team in Chennai. This is a fantastic entry-level opportunity for candidates at the early stages of their finance career who are eager to gain practical, hands-on experience in a dynamic and growing organisation. Reporting to the Senior Accounts Payable Specialist, you will be among the first junior members of the team and will play a key role as the function is built out, with strong prospects for career growth. Key Responsibilities - Process supplier invoices accurately and within agreed timelines under senior supervision - Assist with supplier statement reconciliations and flag any discrepancies identified - Match invoices to supporting documents and resolve routine queries, escalating complex issues when necessary - Maintain accurate and well-organised financial records with proper documentation - Support month-end purchase ledger activities as directed by the senior team - Assist with ad-hoc finance and administrative tasks as and when required - Collaborate with colleagues across departments to ensure smooth financial operations Required Qualifications - Some exposure to finance or accounts through internships, placements, or ongoing studies is preferred but not mandatory - Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Outlook - Strong attention to detail with the ability to handle routine tasks accurately - Well-organised with effective time management and the ability to prioritise tasks - Good written and verbal communication skills in English - Proactive attitude with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team Why Join Us Uniserve offers a supportive and fast-paced work environment where early-career finance professionals can learn, grow, and build a strong foundation for a long-term career.
