Job Details and Responsibilities
We are hiring a senior SAP Convergent Charging (CC) specialist to lead a two-step version upgrade from CC 2021 to CC 2025, followed by migration of the upgraded landscape into a RISE with SAP (SAP-managed, ECS) environment.
The role owns the sequenced 2021 2023 2025 upgrade on-premise, validation at each hop, and readiness of the resulting system for the RISE tenant copy and cutover. This is a hands-on architect role, not an oversight role.

Engagement Scope
Two-step CC upgrade (2021 2023
- 2025) executed on-premise, with functional and rating validation at each step
- Remediation of custom charging plans, mapping tables, and user-defined functions across both hops
- Component-level upgrade across Core Server, Dispatcher, Updater, BART, Diameter/HTTP interfaces, and Admin/Core Tool
- Database, SAP JVM, and OS prerequisite alignment for each target release
- Migration of the upgraded landscape to RISE (ECS) via tenant copy, including connectivity, cutover, and hypercare
- Regression of integration to Convergent Invoicing / FI-CA, mediation, and CRM/subscription order management
Key Responsibilities
Upgrade execution
- Build the upgrade path and prerequisite matrix using Maintenance Planner; confirm target stack, DB, and JVM compatibility per hop Execute upgrades across DEV QA
- PRD using SUM/SL Toolset; document runbooks and rollback plans
- Identify deprecated or changed CC APIs, charging plan constructs, and configuration objects between releases and drive remediation
- Own downtime planning for session-based charging (Diameter) and prepaid balance handling
- Define the target CC deployment model within ECS and confirm the shared-responsibility split with SAP for CC components
- Plan and execute the tenant copy, including master data, charging plan export/import, and bulk loader-driven reload
- Establish connectivity to on-prem and third-party systems (Cloud Connector, VPN/private link, network zones, certificates)
- Coordinate SAP ECS activities through the agreed governance model (SAP Cloud ALM, service requests, cutover windows)
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years in SAP BRIM, with 4+ years hands-on in SAP Convergent Charging specifically (not CI/FI-CA-only experience)
- Delivered at least one CC version upgrade end-to-end, including prerequisite analysis, execution, and post-upgrade validation
- Deep working knowledge of CC architecture: Core Server, Dispatcher, Updater, BART, Diameter and HTTP interfaces, and the CC administration tooling
- Practical experience building and troubleshooting charging plans, charged item classes, mapping tables, and user-defined functions
- Comfortable at the OS and Java layer: SAP JVM, CC instance configuration, log analysis, performance tuning
- Experience with SAP HANA (or ASE) as the CC database, including sizing and upgrade prerequisites
- Proven integration experience with Convergent Invoicing and FI-CA in S/4HANA or ERP
- Able to write and execute a cutover plan for a high-volume, revenue-critical system
Preferred
- Prior RISE with SAP / ECS migration experience, including tenant copy and working within the SAP shared-responsibility model
- Experience with SAP Convergent Mediation (DigitalRoute) or comparable mediation platforms
- SAP Cloud ALM, Solution Manager, or equivalent test and cutover tooling
- Familiarity with SOM / subscription order management flows from CRM or S/4HANA
