Psychologist Paediatric Psycho-Oncology Programme

Established in 2004 by cancer survivor Poonam Bagai, CanKids works with hospitals, healthcare professionals, government bodies, and communities to ensure comprehensive care, psychosocial support, treatment access, and financial protection for children with cancer across India. Job Summary We are looking for a compassionate, motivated, and skilled Psychologist to join our Paediatric Psycho-Oncology Programme (PPOP). The role involves providing psychological assessment, counselling, psychotherapy, expressive therapies, and psychosocial support to children diagnosed with cancer and their families throughout the treatment journey. The selected candidate will work closely with paediatric oncologists, nurses, social workers, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to improve the emotional well-being and quality of life of paediatric cancer patients.
Key Responsibilities
Psychological Assessment & Counselling Conduct psychological assessments using standardised tools and clinical interviews. Provide individual, family, face-to-face, online, and telephonic counselling sessions. Develop individualised psychological care plans. Offer emotional support during diagnosis, treatment, relapse, survivorship, palliative care, and bereavement. Maintain regular follow-up sessions and coordinate referrals whenever required. Program Implementation Implement the Paediatric Psycho-Oncology Programme across assigned hospitals. Coordinate psychological intervention clinics and tele-consultation services. Support development of clinical protocols and psychosocial intervention plans. Documentation & Reporting Maintain patient case records and documentation. Prepare monthly reports, case studies, and intervention summaries. Update patient information on organizational databases. Research & Capacity Building Participate in research activities and evidence-based psychological interventions. Support training of psychologists, interns, social workers, and healthcare professionals. Assist in developing resource materials and psychosocial support tools. Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions. Contribute to organizational programs and community outreach initiatives.
