Job Description
Summary: The Nutrition and Dietetics Officer is a key member of the healthcare team, responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered nutritional care across inpatient, outpatient, and intensive care unit (ICU) settings. This role is essential in improving pediatric health outcomes through personalized Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT), evidence-based dietary planning, and proactive nutrition interventions. The officer ensures the safe and effective delivery of nutritional support, including supplement and meal distribution, while promoting hygiene and health awareness. By maintaining accurate records, supporting research initiatives, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, the officer contributes to both individual patient recovery and the long-term strengthening of institutional nutrition capacity.
Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive nutritional assessments and design individualized meal plans for patients in IPD, OPD, and ICU settings. Perform daily clinical rounds in IPD and ICU to monitor nutritional status and deliver timely Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT). Oversee the Dry Nutritional Supplement Program, including documentation, distribution logistics, and coordination with donors and partners. Develop and implement hygiene promotion campaigns using visual aids, Health and Hygiene Kits, and educational materials in alignment with clinical teams. Manage Mid-Day Meal (MDM) distribution with strict adherence to food safety, hygiene standards, and quality control; adapt recipes based on patient needs and seasonal variations. Plan and execute diet strategies using 24-hour or 7-day dietary recalls, with follow-up and preventive nutrition support for OPD patients. Maintain a centralized digital repository of nutritional data, recipes, and intervention records for reporting, audits, and research purposes. Deliver structured nutrition
education
sessions for patients and caregivers three times per week and lead monthly workshops during parent support group meetings. Train new CanKids staff, joiners, and interns on hospital nutrition protocols, safety standards, and clinical procedures. Participate in monthly team meetings, prepare performance reports, and initiate supply indents for nutritional supplements. Support institutional research and quality improvement efforts by analyzing quarterly nutrition data and contributing to nutrition-focused studies and audits.

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or a closely related field. Demonstrable
experience
in clinical nutrition, with preference for pediatric or hospital-based settings. In-depth knowledge of Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT), dietary assessment methods, and nutrition intervention planning. Competency in data documentation, record management, and basic data analysis for reporting and evaluation. Strong interpersonal and communication
skills
for effective counseling of patients and caregivers. Proven ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary healthcare teams. Excellent organizational and time-management
skills
to manage diverse
