Job Description

Job Title: Deputy General Manager – Resource Mobilization Department: Resource Mobilization Location: Mumbai Summary The Deputy General Manager – Resource Mobilization plays a pivotal role in advancing CanKids’ mission to achieve 100% Access2Care and 100% Financial Protection for children with cancer across India by 2030. Reporting to the Chief Resource Mobilization and Communication Officer (CRMCO), this position is responsible for leading strategic fundraising initiatives, managing high-value donor relationships, and driving sustainable resource acquisition. The role demands a proactive, results-oriented professional with deep expertise in proposal development, donor engagement, and compliance-driven fundraising. By leveraging corporate CSR, institutional partnerships, and innovative campaigns, the Deputy General Manager will ensure a robust, diversified funding pipeline that enables CanKids to expand its reach and impact across 141 Hospital Support Units nationwide. This is a high-impact leadership role at the heart of organizational growth and sustainability.

Responsibilities

Lead the end-to-end development and submission of high-impact proposals, concept notes, and reports in collaboration with program teams to secure new and renew existing donor partnerships. Manage a portfolio of ₹15 Cr in donor relationships, ensuring consistent, personalized engagement and long-term retention through proactive communication and tailored solutions. Drive donor acquisition by identifying, vetting, and converting leads from corporate CSR, PSU CSR, international donor agencies, foundations, trusts, and academic institutions. Oversee the planning, execution, and documentation of all Resource Mobilization-related events, campaigns, and donor engagement activities. Maintain and update the donor database with accuracy, ensuring data integrity and supporting reporting and analytics needs. Collaborate with managers overseeing smaller donor portfolios (₹1–2 Cr) to align strategies, share best practices, and ensure cohesive donor management across the department. Provide mentorship and capacity-building support to team members in proposal writing, donor stewardship, and fundraising strategy. Ensure all fundraising activities, proposals, and donor interactions comply with organizational policies, legal standards, and donor requirements. Manage budgets transparently, aligning expenditures with donor expectations and organizational goals. Contribute to the development and implementation of the annual resource mobilization strategy and long-term fundraising vision. Prepare and submit timely, high-quality donor reports and performance analyses to track progress and inform strategic adjustments. Perform additional duties as assigned by the CRMCO to support organizational priorities.

experience

in fundraising, client acquisition, or donor management within NGOs, social enterprises, or corporate social responsibility (CSR) functions. Proven track record in securing major donor partnerships and achieving or exceeding fundraising targets. Expertise in proposal writing, budgeting, and donor reporting with a strong understanding of compliance frameworks. Demonstrated ability to manage high-value donor portfolios and deliver personalized, strategic engagement. Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal

skills

with a consultative, relationship-focused approach. Proficiency in CRM tools, donor databases, and Microsoft Office Suite;

experience

with fundraising platforms is a plus. Strong organizational

skills

with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and campaigns simultaneously. Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Business Administration, Public Policy, or a related field; postgraduate qualification preferred. Sustained donor retention and growth within the ₹15 Cr portfolio through regular engagement and impact storytelling.
