Purpose
The WordPress Developer, Site Integrity is responsible for the health of every live client site across the fleet
- This is a proactive role: the team reviews sites on a regular cadence to catch and fix issues before a client ever sees them, rather than waiting on client-reported tickets. The role handles direct backend and visual fixes (plugin conflicts, plugin alternatives, layout/design drift), and triages security and WordPress-core issues for DevOps to action. Every review is logged on a shared dashboard so the team's activity is fully traceable, giving the org a clear accountability trail in the event of a client escalation.
Scope
Applies to WordPress Developers on the CWD Site Integrity team, covering all live client sites post-launch across the fleet (Signature 1.0 and 2.0 builds), regardless of which POD originally built the site. Pre-launch readiness and post-launch/migration QA are owned by the Launch team.
Key Responsibilities
1. Proactive Fleet Monitoring & Auditing
- Conduct scheduled, recurring reviews of assigned site segments (not just reactive to tickets).
- Check for broken links, layout breaks, plugin conflicts, outdated plugins/themes, expired SSL/domains, and console/PHP errors.
- Monitor uptime, error logs, and security scanner alerts (e.g. Sucuri) for assigned sites.
- Run 404/broken-link monitoring through the existing UptimeRobot / Percy / Lumar stack rather than ad hoc manual checks, so the team works off shared source of truth with other teams already using that stack.
- Log every scan in the Site Integrity Dashboard the moment it's completed, whether or not an issue was found.
2. SEO & Technical Configuration Audits
- Run a recurring technical SEO pass per site: RankMath configuration, meta titles/descriptions, H1 hierarchy, robots.txt, and llm.txt.
- Extend the existing 404-detection agent spec to also flag no-index/crawl discrepancies (pages unintentionally no-indexed, or indexed pages that should be excluded).
- Log SEO/crawl findings the same way as other audits — dashboard entry plus a SiteFlow ticket for anything requiring a fix.
- Escalate ambiguous SEO decisions (e.g. intentional vs. accidental no-index) to the CWD Manager rather than resolving unilaterally.
3. Issue Diagnosis & Direct Resolution
- Diagnose and fix backend issues within the team's authority: plugin conflicts, broken integrations, theme errors.
- Research and implement plugin alternatives when a plugin is deprecated, unsupported, or conflicting with other tools.
- Fix visual/front-end issues: responsive breakpoints, broken elements, spacing or design drift from the approved comp.
- Prioritize fixes so client-facing issues are resolved before the client notices or reports them.
4. Plugin & Theme Maintenance
- Apply routine theme and plugin updates (functionality/compatibility, non-security) on a regular cadence per site.
- Test updates on staging before pushing to production to avoid breaking changes.
- Maintain a current plugin inventory per site/segment; flag redundant or high-risk plugins.
- Support migration of legacy Beaver Builder / Classic Editor sites toward the current Signature 2.0 standard where flagged.
5. Security & Core Update Triage
- Proactively monitor for outstanding WordPress core/plugin vulnerabilities and pending updates across the fleet, not just what surfaces incidentally during a scan.
- Raise a ticket to DevOps for any security patching or WordPress core update; this team triages and hands off, it does not apply core/security fixes directly.
- Assign every flagged vulnerability or pending update a named owner and a tracked ticket status until DevOps closes it, closing the gap where issues fall between Dev and DevOps.
- Verify security scanner and 2FA coverage on assigned sites; flag gaps to DevOps.
- Verify backup integrity and restore points on a regular schedule; escalate failures to DevOps.
6. Performance & Quality
- Monitor Core Web Vitals / PageSpeed scores; flag and fix degradation within the team's scope.
- Run periodic cross-browser and cross-device checks on assigned sites.
- Feed recurring defect patterns back to the CWD Manager for process/SOP improvement.
7. Tracking, Documentation & Accountability
- Log every site review in the Site Integrity Dashboard: site, date/time, reviewer, findings, action taken, and DevOps escalation status.
- Treat the dashboard as the system of record for “was this site checked and when” across fleet scans and SEO/crawl audits.
- Log all findings and fixes as SiteFlow tickets, cross-referenced with the matching dashboard entry.
- Keep an audit trail per site so recurring issues are visible across review cycles.
- Escalate client-facing or scope-ambiguous issues to the CWD Manager / OB per protocol.
8. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Raise security and WordPress core update issues to DevOps and track them through to resolution.
- Coordinate with OBs (Onboarding Specialists) when a fix requires client communication, approval, or content input.
- Coordinate with the Design team on visual fixes that need comp-level reference.
- Support the Launch team on post-launch monitoring handoff (first 7–14 days after go-live).
- Surface plugin-risk or legacy-site findings to the Tech Team Lead for fleet-wide visibility.
9. Renewal-Client Scope Exceptions (Governance)
- Follow a defined SOP for evaluating requests from renewal clients that fall outside standard maintenance scope, rather than each developer making an independent scope call.
- Route any renewal-client scope-exception request to the designated single point of contact (SPOC — TBD, likely the CWD Manager) for a decision.
- Log the request and the SPOC's decision so scope exceptions are consistent and auditable across the team.

Ideal Qualifications
2+ years experience building or maintaining WordPress websites on modern block themes.
Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills across HTML, CSS, basic PHP/JS, and Gutenberg architecture.
Working knowledge of the plugin ecosystem, including how to vet and select alternatives.
Working knowledge of technical SEO fundamentals (RankMath, meta/H1 structure, robots.txt, indexing behavior).
Comfortable working within a structured, dashboard-logged workflow and triaging (rather than personally resolving) security/core issues.
Comfortable managing a high volume of sites independently with a proactive, checklist-driven approach.
Detail-oriented, with an eye for visual and functional accuracy across many sites at.
