POSITION SUMMARY: As a Team Leader – IT Software Engineering, you will lead a software engineering team responsible for the development and support of strategic cloud-based applications and services. This role combines people leadership, technical leadership, and delivery ownership to ensure high-quality software solutions aligned with business and organizational objectives
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of software engineers responsible for delivering high-quality software solutions.
Drive execution of software development activities, ensuring delivery commitments, quality standards, and business objectives are achieved.
Collaborate with Product Owners, Architects, and stakeholders to define requirements, priorities, and technical solutions.
Provide hands-on technical guidance and contribute to software development activities when required.
Provide technical leadership for the design, development, and deployment of applications utilizing Vue.js, Java/Spring Boot, Kafka, and Kubernetes.
Promote engineering excellence through the adoption of CI/CD, DevOps practices, automated testing, and code quality standards.
Foster a positive team culture and high-performance environment.
Lead production support, incident management, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure operational excellence.
Escalate risks and issues appropriately and ensure alignment with leadership.
Work with Human Resources to address employee relations issues as needed.
Support and participate in performance evaluation processes, including reviews and feedback with manager guidance.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field.
10+ years of experience in software development, including a minimum of 3 years leading and managing software engineering teams.
Hands-on technical expertise with the ability to evaluate and refine technical decisions and contribute to software development when required.
Demonstrated strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Positive, detail-oriented, organized, team-oriented, and self-motivated, with strong problem-solving, prioritization, and leadership skills in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment developing customized technology for Garmin's development portal.
Experience with Python development and cloud infrastructure technologies is preferred.
