Sr Staff Software QA Engineer

Renesas is hiring a 

Sr Staff Software QA Engineer

with strong software and hardware testing experience to work with hands-on automated and manual testing of customer-facing software/hardware integrations. Develop and execute detailed manual and automated software/UI test cases in Python or other OO language. Experience in electrical engineering, Hardware debugging, hardware/firmware or embedded testing is strongly desired.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to validate market-leading digital controller solutions powering AI, client, and server applications. Responsibilities include software test planning, execution, reporting, leading testing projects, automation, documentation, and debugging software connected to hardware to determine the root cause of issues, and driving product quality across the development software/hardware lifecycle.

• Job responsibilities in QA Testing:

You will work teams across the globe to generate test requirements and define test methodologies.

• Develop a robust understanding of detailed technical requirements for product software and related hardware and firmware.
• Design and execute automated and manual test plans for software, hardware, firmware, and IC solutions.
• Debug software and hardware issues, with a focus on IC functionality and root cause analysis.
• Analyze test results, report defects, and support issue resolution with development and customer-facing teams.
• Collaborate with customers and cross-functional teams to ensure product quality exceeds expectations.
• Drive test automation, validation framework improvements, and QA best practices.
• Mentor team members and contribute to testing strategy, planning, and process enhancements.
• Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while balancing quality, timelines, and feature delivery.
• Proactively identify risks, raise issues, and recommend product and process improvements.

• Education: Bachelor's or master's degree in computer engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or similar

• Experience: 12+ years of Software QA experience, including 8+ years testing software integrated with hardware/firmware.

• Technical Proficiency:

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills with a keen attention to detail to debug complex HW/SW issues and document detailed test plans and test cases and root cause analysis of software vs hardware/FW bugs through deep analysis of both manual automated test failures.
• Experience in electronics, microcontroller programming, and bus communications, ideally in power systems, semiconductors, or ICs.
• GUI test automation skills with Python and tools such as Qt Squish, SmartBear Test Complete, or similar.
•  Familiarity with lab test equipment and measurement tools.
• Solid understanding of JIRA, version control, QA best practices, and software/hardware development lifecycles.
• Proven ability to mentor teams, hardware/software test development and lab management, improve test coverage, and drive quality initiatives.
• Willingness to speak up, raise issues and risks, ask lots of questions, and provide improvement recommendations for products, test cases, test automation, and team processes. 
•  Background in both Software QA and IC/Power Engineering preferred.
