The Senior Software Engineer (Java) at Reveleer is a highly experienced individual contributor working on Reveleer's encounter data processing and CMS submission systems for Medicare Advantage. This role focuses on strong execution, sound technical decision making, and delivering high-quality software in a regulated, high-data-volume environment where submission accuracy and timeliness carry direct compliance and revenue impacts. Success means writing reliable, maintainable code, improving the throughput and stability of encounter processing, and owning customer outcomes.

• Legacy components are modernized safely, reducing security exposure and long-term maintenance costs.
• Automated test coverage and delivery automation improve, reducing manual QA and operational toil for the team.
• AI-assisted development accelerates delivery (refactoring, test generation) without lowering the quality bar.

What you'll do

• Design, develop, and maintain Java services for health care encounter data processing and CMS submissions (EDI X12) within Reveleer's Medicare
• Advantage member management platform, using Spring, Hibernate, MS SQL, and RabbitMQ.
• Build and optimize high-throughput batch and file-processing pipelines for large-volume EDI submission and response handling (837, 277CA, 999), improving throughput, latency, and reliability.
• Contribute to the high-scalability modernization goals of the platform: full infrastructure as code (IaC), session and authentication handling, and containerized deployment on AWS (EKS).\
• Modernize legacy Java components safely, including version upgrades, dependency and security remediation, and migration behind tooling with rollback plans.
• Strengthen delivery quality by building automated tests and improving CI/CD pipelines, helping reduce manual QA and operational load across the team.
• Apply AI-assisted engineering tools (such as Claude Code) across the development lifecycle (scaffolding, refactoring, test generation, code review).
  Contribute to system reliability, performance, and security; troubleshoot data and software problems in a compliance-sensitive production environment and improve the systems so they require less manual intervention.
• Act as a technical subject matter expert within your domain, supporting other engineers through design input, problem-solving, and code review.
  Work with product managers, analysts, and stakeholders to translate business and regulatory requirements into technical solutions.

What you bring

• 8+ years of Core Java and J2EE enterprise web application development.
• Strong object-oriented coding practices and design patterns.
• Spring Framework (MVC) experience highly preferred, along with Spring Batch or equivalent high-volume batch processing experience.
• Demonstrated experience building high-throughput data or file-processing systems, with measurable improvements in throughput or latency.
• Hands-on experience with EDI/X12 and CMS encounter data processing (EDPS/EDS), or comparable healthcare claims and submission systems.
• Advanced SQL, including database and query optimization (MS SQL preferred).
• Containerized, cloud-native development on AWS (Docker and Kubernetes/EKS), including multi-tenant SaaS architecture concerns such as tenant isolation and per-tenant configuration.
• API development experience.
• Experience modernizing legacy Java codebases: version upgrades, dependency and security remediation, and migration tooling.
• Experience with test automation frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, observability and application instrumentation, and the full software development lifecycle in an Agile environment.
• Proficiency in AI-assisted software engineering, with hands-on use of tools such as Claude Code to accelerate development while maintaining a high bar for correctness, security, and maintainability.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and elevate quality through clear standards and practical coaching.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical field required; Master's degree preferred

Desirable additional experience:

• Message queues and streaming (RabbitMQ, AMQP, Kinesis, or equivalent).
• Infrastructure as Code and deployment pipeline configuration for cloud platforms.
• Continuous delivery practices (trunk-based development, feature flagging).
• Front-end development with JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Familiarity with CMS submission channels (ConnectDirect, Edge server) and risk adjustment (HCC).
