• Role Overview:

We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Development Manager to lead a team within the Supply Chain Management & Automation (SCMA) organization, the group building the automated systems behind Coupang’s procurement and inventory operations.

SCMA powers critical supply chain decisions such as what to order, how much to order, and when to procure, operating at massive scale across millions of SKUs and thousands of suppliers.

In this role, you will lead a lean, high-impact team developing distributed systems that drive the end-to-end ordering lifecycle, from demand forecasting and inventory planning to supplier integration and execution.

You will own both technical direction and delivery, driving complex initiatives in a fast-paced, large-scale environment.

• You will have the opportunity to:

• Lead development of large-scale systems that automate procurement and inventory decisions.
• Build distributed platforms handling high-volume supply chain workloads across suppliers and products.
• Drive key initiatives to expand and scale Coupang’s supply chain systems to new regions such as Taiwan.
• Solve complex problems across forecasting, inventory optimization, and supplier constraints.
• Operate with high ownership in a lean team environment while influencing broader system architecture.
• Shape technical direction across microservices, big data systems, and real-time decision platforms.

• What You Will Do:

• Lead, hire, and develop a high-performing team of backend engineers working on supply chain automation systems.
• Drive end-to-end execution of key initiatives across ordering, inventory, and procurement platforms, managing timelines and cross-team dependencies.
• Own the technical design and architecture of systems handling SKU management, ordering pipelines, and supplier workflows.
• Partner with product and business teams to translate complex supply chain requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Guide the development of distributed, high-scale systems processing inventory, supplier, and demand data, driving design decisions across microservices and event-driven architectures.
• Ensure engineering excellence by maintaining high standards in code quality, system reliability, operational readiness, while mentoring engineers and contributing hands-on to critical challenges.

• Basic Qualifications:

• 10–13 years of software engineering experience with 3+ years in engineering management
• Strong hands-on experience in Java-based backend development and building microservices in distributed systems
• Proven experience designing and operating large-scale, data-intensive systems involving batch and stream processing (e.g., Spark, Kafka, Airflow or similar)
• Deep understanding of system design fundamentals including scalability, fault tolerance, data consistency, and performance optimization
• Experience building systems that operate on high-volume datasets (millions of SKUs, transactions, or entities) and involve complex business or decision logic
• Familiarity with modern data ecosystems including data warehouses, relational/NoSQL databases, and caching layers (e.g., Redshift, MySQL, Redis)
• Ability to drive end-to-end technical execution — breaking down complex supply chain or platform problems into scalable designs while staying hands-on in critical areas

• Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in supply chain, logistics, procurement, or inventory systems
• Experience working with large-scale data processing systems (Spark, Kafka, Airflow, etc.)
• Experience building or scaling platforms involving SKU management or supply chain decisioning
• Familiarity with distributed systems, event-driven architecture, and microservices
• Experience working in high-growth, fast-paced environments with large system complexity
• Strong ability to operate in lean teams with high ownership and impact

• Type of Work Model:

Hybrid / / Remote working

Our Hybrid work model enables collaboration while offering flexibility. Employees are expected to work at least 3 days in the office, with the option to work remotely depending on role requirements.
