Responsibilities
- Maintain, support, and enhance existing enterprise Java applications in a complex production environment. Analyze and troubleshoot application, database, and performance issues across multiple systems and environments. Develop scalable and maintainable solutions using Java, Hibernate, and SQL. Optimize application performance, database interactions, and system reliability. Support deployment, release management, and production support activities. Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions. Participate in modernization, cloud transformation, and process improvement initiatives. Mentor team members and contribute to engineering best practices.
SKILLS
Must have
- 10-15+ years of software development experience in large-scale enterprise environments
- Strong Java development experience with deep understanding of multithreading, collections, concurrency, and performance optimisation
- Advanced SQL skills with experience working on complex data models and production systems
- Proven, hands-on Hibernate expertise, including design, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and real-world implementation
- Ability to independently analyse, maintain and enhance existing legacy applications and codebases
- Extensive experience working on large, business-critical enterprise applications
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills across complex distributed systems
- Experience into existing applications and becoming productive with minimal ramp-up time
- Hands-on experience with application deployment processes and environment management Familiarity with access management, operational processes, and production support activities
- Ability to understand and navigate legacy code and architecture without extensive documentation
- Demonstrated track record of delivering in mature environments where understanding the existing estate is as important as developing new functionality

- Experience with Python development

- Exposure to cloud-native architectures and modernisation initiatives
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Knowledge of containerisation technologies (Docker/Kubernetes)
- Experience working within Financial Services or regulated environments
- Exposure to system migration, application modernisation, or cloud transformation programmes
