Job Description

Summary The Senior Engineer – Signaling & Telecommunications (S&T) plays a pivotal role in the design, execution, and delivery of critical railway signaling and telecommunication systems. This position is central to ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of railway infrastructure. The incumbent will lead the development and implementation of signaling designs, including track plans, interlocking schemes, and technical documentation, while ensuring full adherence to national and international standards (e.g., EN 50128, IEC 61508, Indian Railways standards). The role demands strong technical expertise in design packages, project scheduling, and safety-critical system validation. The Senior Engineer will supervise S&T works throughout the project lifecycle—from conceptual design through installation, testing, commissioning, and handover—while coordinating closely with interlocking, telecom, power, and civil engineering teams. This position is essential for maintaining system integrity, regulatory compliance, and operational safety across complex railway projects. ---

Responsibilities

Lead the preparation of signaling designs, including detailed track plans, interlocking diagrams, signal aspect logic, and design calculations. Develop and manage Bill of Quantities (BOQs), technical specifications, and design packages in alignment with project scope and standards. Supervise and execute S&T works on-site, ensuring strict compliance with safety protocols, project schedules, and quality benchmarks. Coordinate seamlessly with interlocking, telecom, power supply, and civil engineering teams to ensure integrated system performance. Support installation, testing, and commissioning activities by providing technical guidance, resolving design issues, and verifying system functionality. Participate in design review meetings and contribute to the preparation of safety documentation, including Safety Integrity Level (SIL) assessments and hazard analysis. Prepare accurate as-built drawings and comprehensive technical documentation for handover and future maintenance. Ensure all designs and deliverables comply with relevant railway standards, regulatory requirements, and project-specific specifications. Monitor project timelines and deliverables, proactively identifying risks and implementing mitigation strategies. Mentor junior engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of technical excellence and safety awareness. ---
