About the Role
Office Beacon is looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to design, automate, manage, and optimize cloud infrastructure and DevOps platforms.
The role focuses on building and operating secure, highly available, scalable, and resilient infrastructure while enabling engineering teams to deliver software reliably.
You will work across cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, CI/CD, infrastructure automation, networking, security, monitoring, disaster recovery, and production operations.
The Senior DevOps Engineer will also collaborate with Engineering, QA, Product, and Security teams to improve platform reliability, automation, operational efficiency, and infrastructure standards across multiple environments.
Key Responsibilities
Cloud Infrastructure & Platform Engineering
- Design, deploy, manage, and optimize cloud infrastructure across AWS, Azure, GCP, DigitalOcean, or comparable environments.
- Build scalable and resilient infrastructure following established cloud and infrastructure engineering practices.
- Manage cloud resources, configurations, access controls, and operational environments.
- Identify opportunities to improve infrastructure reliability, performance, and cost efficiency.
Networking & Infrastructure
- Design and maintain VPC/VNet architectures.
- Manage DNS, VPNs, firewalls, load balancers, and reverse proxies.
- Configure and troubleshoot Nginx, Apache, Cloudflare, and related infrastructure services.
- Troubleshoot networking issues involving TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, SSL/TLS, routing, and connectivity.
Kubernetes & Containers
- Manage Kubernetes clusters and production workloads.
- Handle cluster upgrades, scaling, networking, ingress, persistent storage, and workload scheduling.
- Work with managed Kubernetes platforms such as Amazon EKS, Azure AKS, DOKS, or self-managed Kubernetes.
- Support Kubernetes security, availability, and reliability.
CI/CD & Automation
- Design, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, or comparable tools.
- Automate application builds, testing, deployments, infrastructure provisioning, and release workflows.
- Develop automation scripts using Bash and/or Python.
- Improve deployment reliability and reduce repetitive operational work.
Database & Reliability Operations
- Support production database environments involving technologies such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, or Apache Solr.
- Assist with database backups, replication, failover, and recovery processes.
- Monitor database health and investigate infrastructure-related performance issues.
- Support disaster recovery and business continuity procedures.
Monitoring & Observability
- Build and maintain monitoring and observability solutions using tools such as Grafana and Prometheus.
- Support security and infrastructure monitoring using tools such as Wazuh.
- Monitor application and infrastructure health.
- Investigate operational issues and participate in production incident response.
Application & Production Support
- Support deployment and operation of applications built with technologies such as PHP/Laravel, Node.js, Python, Django, Flask, FastAPI, or other web frameworks.
- Troubleshoot application and infrastructure issues across development, staging, and production environments.
- Work with engineering teams to identify infrastructure-related application issues.
Disaster Recovery & High Availability
- Design and maintain backup and disaster recovery strategies.
- Support highly available infrastructure and production workloads.
- Participate in recovery testing and operational readiness activities.
Technical Leadership
- Establish DevOps and infrastructure engineering standards.
- Mentor junior and intermediate engineers.
- Review infrastructure and deployment approaches.
- Collaborate with Engineering, QA, Product, and Security teams.
- Document infrastructure architecture, operational procedures, and troubleshooting processes.
3. Must-Have Qualifications
- 4–8+ years of professional experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, or Infrastructure Engineering.
- Strong hands-on experience with at least major cloud platform, preferably AWS.
- Strong hands-on experience managing Kubernetes in production.
- Experience with managed Kubernetes platforms such as EKS, AKS, DOKS, or comparable/self-managed environments.
- Strong experience with Docker and containerized applications.
- Experience with Kubernetes networking, ingress, storage, scaling, and workload management.
- Understanding of Kubernetes security and high-availability concepts.
- Strong hands-on experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, or similar tools.
- Strong Bash and/or Python scripting skills.
- Hands-on operational experience with at least two of the following: PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, or Apache Solr.
- Strong understanding of DNS, SSL/TLS, Nginx/Apache, load balancers, reverse proxies, TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, and VPC/VNet architecture.
- Experience troubleshooting production infrastructure and application issues.
- Experience supporting deployments of web applications or backend services.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and incident-response skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Terraform or another Infrastructure-as-Code platform.
- Experience with Ansible.
- Experience with ArgoCD or GitOps workflows.
- Experience designing cloud-native and microservices architectures.
- Experience with high-availability and disaster-recovery architecture.
- Experience with Cloudflare DNS, CDN, WAF, caching, and traffic-management features.
- Experience with Grafana, Prometheus, Wazuh, or other observability/security platforms.
- Experience with infrastructure performance optimization and scalability engineering.
- Experience with advanced database performance tuning.
- Experience with production log-management systems.
- Experience implementing Kubernetes security practices.
- Experience working in multi-cloud environments.
