Senior Developer, Sitecore

Overview

   The Senior Developer, Sitecore, serves as a key technical lead within project teams, bridging the gap between development and technical leadership. The role is responsible for taking ownership of project delivery, particularly for medium to large-scale engagements involving multiple team members, while contributing hands-on to development activities. The incumbent provides technical guidance, resolves complex challenges, supports team members in overcoming delivery blockers, and ensures the successful execution of project objectives. Acting as a primary point of contact for technical and delivery-related matters, the role helps drive efficient project outcomes, fosters collaboration, and enables the team to effectively manage multiple priorities and stakeholder requirements.

Key Accountabilities and main responsibilities

   Strategic Focus 

    - Provide technical expertise and support to senior team members in the successful delivery of projects. 

    - Contribute to project delivery by applying technical skills, resolving challenges, and removing blockers. 

    - Analyse, design, and document technical solutions in accordance with project requirements and best practices. 

    - Demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement by enhancing both technical expertise and business knowledge.

   Operational Management 

    - Responsible for developing high-quality, rapid-to-market IT solutions within an Agile environment. 

    - Generate innovative solutions to problems and identify opportunities to improve business services and processes. 

    - Collaborate with team members, systems analysts, testers, and delivery managers to deliver high-quality software solutions. 

    - Develop code and perform unit testing in accordance with specifications and quality standards. 

    - Perform defect triage and manage issues through to technical resolution. 

    - Actively participate in daily stand-up meetings and other Agile ceremonies. 

    - Take ownership of code management within the team and ensure the effective use of source control systems and practices. 

    - Collaborate with DevOps teams to support and maintain continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes. 

    - The above key accountabilities are not exhaustive and may be amended from time to time to meet evolving business requirements. As this role forms part of a global team, occasional travel and flexibility in working hours may be required.

   People Leadership 

    - Provide hands-on, expert-level technical guidance and support to developers to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality solutions. 

    - Coach, mentor, and support junior developers and configurators, taking ownership of their technical development on Sitecore projects. 

    - Review and provide oversight of team deliverables across all project phases, including Planning, Analysis, Design, Build, and Testing, to ensure adherence to quality standards and project objectives.

   Governance & Risk

    - Review code to ensure compliance with established coding standards, information security (InfoSec) principles, and organisational best practices. 

    - Ensure all assigned work is delivered within agreed timelines and quality standards, while meeting stakeholder expectations and project objectives.

Experience & Personal Attributes

   Experience 

    - 7+ Years of overall software Development experience with minimum 6 years of Sitecore development Experience.

    - Design & develop enterprise-scale solutions using Sitecore 10, Sitecore XM Cloud, Sitecore JSS, and Headless architecture, leveraging both custom development and out-of-the-box Sitecore capabilities.

    - Develop and customize Sitecore components, templates, pipelines, workflows, APIs, and Sitecore extensions while implementing best practices for content management, personalization, and authoring experiences.

    - Design and integrate REST APIs and message-queue-based solutions, with a strong understanding of dependency injection (DI), inversion of control (IoC), and service-oriented architectures.

    - Perform performance tuning, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis of complex application issues, including assembly inspection/decomplication, load testing, and optimization of Sitecore and .NET applications.

    - Apply software engineering best practices, including SOLID principles, design patterns, refactoring techniques, code reviews, and architectural governance standards.

    - Collaborate closely with business stakeholders and cross-functional teams to gather requirements, define technical solutions, and ensure successful end-to-end delivery of applications.

    - Manage source code and deployment processes using Git, branching strategies, merge methodologies, CI/CD pipelines.

    - Act as a Sitecore Senior Developer by providing technical leadership, mentoring team members, driving best practices, and owning application delivery and support. 

    - Sitecore Certified Professional Developer (Sitecore 10) is preferable; Sitecore XM Cloud, Sitecore JSS/Headless, Microsoft Azure (AZ-204/AZ-305), Azure DevOps (AZ-400) is an added advantage.
