The

Mid-Level

Security Engineer (Security Automation Engineer)

serves as a SME supporting cybersecurity and privacy operations, with a primary focus on Personally Identifiable Information (PII) incident response, data loss prevention, and security control implementation. This position identifies, contains, eradicates, and supports recovery from PII incidents and PII-related data breaches while ensuring compliance with information security and privacy requirements. 

Key Responsibilities

• Perform end-to-end incident response activities for PII incidents and PII-related data breaches, including identification, containment, eradication, and recovery. 
• Utilize Data Loss Prevention (DLP) tools to identify PII that is improperly stored at rest or improperly transmitted. 
• Quarantine improperly stored PII and support remediation activities to prevent unauthorized access or disclosure. 
• Assess PII-related security risks and recommend appropriate corrective and risk-mitigation actions. 
• Ensure appropriate security controls and safeguards are implemented to protect sensitive and personally identifiable information. 
• Engage with stakeholders and mission partners to coordinate security response, containment, eradication, and recovery activities. 
• Validate completion and effectiveness of remedial actions resulting from PII incidents. 
• Ensure cybersecurity and privacy activities comply with applicable information security and privacy policies. 
• Support security automation and repeatable processes that improve the efficiency and consistency of security monitoring, incident response, and remediation activities.
