  About the Project

  Our client, a Fortune 50 telecommunications company, is embarking on a transformative, multi-year journey, re-inventing how digital products are built, deployed and managed at scale.  They are building a state-of-the-art platform for API development, management, and deployment, with the dual objectives of increasing revenue and operational efficiency across the business.  This unique platform enables the discovery and efficient consumption of capabilities that are available across dozens of products, through the use of well documented, thoroughly tested and easy to use API’s.

  What You’ll Be Doing: 

  We are still very early in the journey.  Currently, the team has moved the next major phase of the initiative, which is to scale the number of API’s on the platform.

  As a Program Manager, you’ll drive accountability and clear execution across teams, establishing well thought out plans and ensuring timely delivery of new capabilities and API’s

• Key responsibilities include: -
  Project Planning & Accountability: Partner with cross-functional teams to create appropriately thorough, dependency-aware project plans with identified resources and defined deliverables aligned to both API platform and business goals.

  Risk Management & Mitigation: Maintain a proactive approach to risk identification, coordinating across teams to propose and execute mitigation strategies and ensuring minimal delays in deliverable timelines.

  Stakeholder Coordination: Strike a balance between meetings and Slack discussions, to facilitate progress towards objectives, holding stakeholders accountable for project components and timely updates.

  Consolidated Reporting: Aggregate and report program status across projects, generating actionable insights on impacts and dependencies for leadership. You’ll escalate issues when necessary and serve as the connective tissue between teams for resolution.

  Documentation & Tracking: Utilize Confluence, Jira, and related tools to meticulously document project details, action items, and timelines, creating a centralized source for project progress and ensuring transparency across programs.

  Executive Presentations: As necessary, prepare presentations to VP’s and SVP’s, distilling key information down to key asks and views that succinctly communicate status, risks and action items.

  This role is ideal for someone who thrives in building structure and predictability from the ground up, especially in an environment that initially lacks established processes. In particular, the client is seeking candidates that will 1.) roll up their sleeves, and 2.) have a knack for absorbing a wide swath of information and taking action on well thought out next steps.  A solid grasp of API and software development workflows will allow this Program Manager to establish clear frameworks, identify gaps, and drive cohesive, cross-functional coordination to bring clarity and alignment to the program.

Length of Employment:**

Note that while this is a full time role, the initial employment contract shall be for a period of 1 year.

Requirements

Skills & Experience We’re Looking For:

 Proven program or project management experience in large, distributed organizations, focusing on complex, cross-functional initiatives (four or more years preferred).

 Technical foundation in API or software development, with experience in engineering, QA, or Product Management roles, particularly working with back-ends or APIs.

 Excellent communication skills to convey complex technical and business information.  You absolutely crush the “so what” of any conversation.

 Strong attention to detail and process orientation, adept at handling multiple dependencies, deadlines, and deliverables across distributed teams.

 Proactive risk management abilities to forecast needs, address challenges, and ensure alignment with program goals.

 Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.

 Willingness to travel (<25%) and ability to pass a background investigation

• Even Better If You Have: -
  Advanced degree (B.S., B.A.) with three or more years of specialized program or project management experience, certifications, or prior management consulting experience.

  Financial acumen, strong technical grasp of telecommunications (e.g., voice, data, networking).

  Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Project, Visio, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and an understanding of systems development, database management, and application deployment in cloud based platforms like GCP and AWS.
