• Job Description:

As a Production Engineer, you will work closely with the Operations Manager and site leadership team to learn, contribute and grow in a lubricant blending manufacturing environment. This role is designed for high-potential hires within 3 years of working experience who are passionate about safe operations, product quality, operational discipline and continuous improvement.
You will gain hands-on exposure to end-to-end plant operations, including blending, filling, tank farm, raw material receiving, production scheduling, laboratory interface, maintenance coordination and performance management. You will be expected to learn fast, ask good questions, take ownership of improvement actions and demonstrate the behaviours needed to become a future manufacturing leader.

What you will deliver

HSSE

• Put safety first in every decision and activity, demonstrating visible commitment to safe, compliant and reliable operations.
• Understand and follow site HSSE requirements, including risk assessment, control of work, permit-to-work, management of change, emergency response and contractor safety expectations.
• Participate in safety conversations, inspections, incident learning, near-miss reporting and corrective action follow-up.
• Identify unsafe conditions or behaviors, speak up with care and take timely action to prevent harm to people, the environment and assets.

Quality

• Understand that quality is critical to our customers and to the Castrol brand, and help ensure products are manufactured right first time.
• Follow approved procedures, work instructions, formulations, sampling requirements and quality control processes.
• Support investigation and prevention of quality incidents, contamination risks, rework and customer complaints.
• Work closely with the laboratory and operations teams to ensure timely testing, release and issue resolution.

Product knowledge

• Build strong foundational knowledge of lubricant products, base oils, additives, formulations, packaging formats and customer application requirements.
• Understand the impact of product characteristics on blending, filtration, flushing, filling, lab testing, storage and handling.
• Learn how product knowledge supports safe handling, quality assurance, production efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Process

• Develop practical understanding of lubricant manufacturing processes, including raw material receiving, tank farm management, blending, transfer, filling, warehousing interface and finished goods dispatch.
• Follow standard operating procedures and help improve process discipline, documentation accuracy and shift handover quality.
• Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for process deviations, equipment issues, delays and operational losses.
• Learn how to balance safety, quality, service, cost and sustainability in daily production decisions.

Manufacturing excellence

• Contribute to continuous improvement activities that reduce losses, improve productivity, strengthen operational discipline and enhance plant competitiveness.
• Support manufacturing excellence programs such as 5S, autonomous maintenance, focused improvement, visual management, standard work and waste elimination.
• Use data and shop floor observation to identify improvement opportunities in cycle time, changeover, flushing, line efficiency, material usage, energy consumption and labor productivity.
• Demonstrate a “learn, improve and share” mindset by capturing lessons learned and helping embed best practices across teams.

Scheduling

• Learn how production schedules are built and executed to meet customer demand, service level, capacity, material availability and operational constraints.
• Work with planning, production, warehouse, laboratory and maintenance teams to support schedule adherence and timely issue escalation.
• Understand the importance of sequence planning, tank availability, line capacity, raw material readiness and changeover efficiency.
• Help track daily plan achievement, identify causes of schedule loss and support actions to improve reliability of execution.

KPI and performance management

• Understand key plant KPIs across HSSE, quality, service, cost, productivity, inventory, waste and people capability.
• Support daily, weekly and monthly performance reviews by preparing data, identifying trends and following up actions.
• Use KPI insights to drive practical improvements and support fact-based decision making on the shopfloor.
• Develop the habit of owning commitments, closing actions on time and communicating progress clearly.

What you will need to be successful

• Bachelor’s degree or above, preferably in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Safety or a related discipline.
• 3 years of experience or less in manufacturing, supply chain, engineering, quality, operations or related fields.
• Strong learning agility, ownership mindset and willingness to spend time on the shop floor.
• Good analytical capability, problem-solving mindset and ability to work with data and KPIs.
• Good communication skills in Chinese and English, with confidence to work across functions and levels.
• Positive attitude, curiosity, resilience and willingness to be stretched through hands-on assignments and cross-functional exposure.

Leadership development expectation
This role is not about completing daily production tasks. You will be expected to grow from “learning the operation” to “owning improvement” and eventually to “leading through others”. Success will be measured by your ability to demonstrate safe and disciplined behaviors, build trust with frontline teams, solve real business problems and show readiness for broader manufacturing responsibilities.

Education
Chemical, Petrochemical, Petrochemical Engineering preferred
985/211 bachelor or equivalent
