Ph.D. Economist

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Ph.D. Economist to join our Intellectual Property team. This is a unique opportunity for an entrepreneurial, highly driven professional with a strong foundation in economics, econometrics, and statistical analysis. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker who can apply advanced analytical skills across a variety of engagements.

In this role, you will provide econometric and statistical analysis in support of intellectual property valuation, litigation support, investment banking advisory, and strategic consulting engagements. This position is designed to evolve into a testifying expert witness role in high-stakes intellectual property litigation.

• Job Responsibilities:

• Conduct rigorous econometric and statistical analyses to support valuation, damages, and market assessments.
• Develop economic models to quantify the value and impact of intellectual property assets.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across valuation, litigation, and advisory practices.
• Prepare expert reports and presentations for clients, legal counsel, and courts.
• Support business development efforts through thought leadership and client engagement.
• Serve as a testifying expert in litigation matters (with mentorship and development support).

 

• Required Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in Economics, Econometrics, or a related field.
• Strong foundation in applied econometrics, industrial organization, and statistical modeling.

Telecommunications industry and/or FCC experience required.

• Demonstrated experience with economic analysis in litigation, consulting, or academic settings.
• Proficiency in statistical software (e.g., Stata, R, Python).
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

 

• Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior work involving intellectual property, antitrust, or commercial damages.
• Experience preparing or supporting expert witness testimony.
• Familiarity with IP valuation methodologies and licensing practices.
• Experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical sectors.

 

• Physical and Mental Job Qualifications:

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Ability to travel as needed.

A reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role is $150,000 -$190,000. Any offered salary range is based on a wide array of factors including but not limited to skillset, experience, training, location, scope of role, management responsibility, etc.
