Job Description
A Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) Technician is responsible for the final quality assurance of new vehicles before they are delivered to customers.
Key Responsibilities
Vehicle Inspection: Conduct thorough examinations of new vehicles for shipping damage, missing components, or misaligned items such as trim and doors. Mechanical & Electrical Checks: Verify fluid levels (oil, coolant, antifreeze), test battery health, and check tire pressure. Operational Testing: Start engines and perform road tests to evaluate steering, brakes, transmission, and overall engine performance. Systems Verification: Test electronic features including windows, seats, radios, lights, and climate control systems. Aesthetic Detailing: Inspect for paint chips or scratches and perform minor touch-ups. Remove protective shipping materials and ensure the interior and exterior are showroom-clean. Accessory Installation: Install optional equipment or standard components specified by the dealer or customer. Software Updates: For modern vehicles (including EVs), conduct diagnostic checks and perform necessary software or firmware updates. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and warranty work.

A diploma or certificate in Automotive Technology or a related mechanical field is often required. Driver's License: A valid driver's license with a clean record is mandatory for conducting road tests.
Experience:
Many roles prefer 3–5years of
experience
in vehicle repair or a similar inspection role.
