Machinist - Level III

• Job Summary:

Analyzes and manufactures complex components using machine tool equipment. Learns and understands the protocols of working safely with electricity and other energy sources with industrial equipment. May work independently and instruct or coach others.

Fully proficient setting up and operating machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, grinders and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) equipment to machine
parts to specifications.
Ability to use precision measuring devices, layout work and set up tool room machines to build or fabricate details and assemble as needed.
Instructs and coaches others and acts as an informal resource for team members with less experience.
Performs and documents preventive, emergency, corrective and predictive maintenance activities.
Maintains clean and orderly work area, including routine housekeeping and machine cleaning tasks.
Performs other duties as required to meet business goals.

• Education, Licenses, Certifications:

Job Summary

Responsible for coordinating day-to-day production activities on the Cylinder Block and Cylinder Head machining line to achieve production, quality, delivery, safety, and cost objectives. Ensure smooth line operations through effective manpower management, machine utilization, and cross-functional coordination.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and monitor shift-wise production activities to achieve planned output targets.
• Ensure smooth operation of Cylinder Block and Cylinder Head machining lines.
• Allocate manpower effectively and monitor operator performance.
• Track hourly production, downtime, OEE, rejection, and productivity metrics.
• Coordinate with Maintenance, Quality, Production Engineering, and Tool Room teams to minimize line stoppages.
• Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs), control plans, and work instructions.
• Conduct daily line meetings and communicate production priorities to the team.
• Monitor critical machining parameters and ensure process compliance.
• Review and address quality issues, customer complaints, and in-process defects.
• Lead problem-solving activities using Root Cause Analysis, 8D, Why-Why Analysis, and Kaizen.
• Support new product trials, process improvements, and line balancing activities.
• Ensure implementation of 5S, TPM, Lean Manufacturing, and safety practices.
• Maintain production records, shift reports, and performance dashboards.
• Train and develop operators on quality requirements, safety standards, and best practices.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity, quality, and machine utilization.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of Cylinder Block and Cylinder Head machining processes.
• Experience with CNC HMC/VMC machining centers.
• Knowledge of Milling, Drilling, Boring, Reaming, Tapping, and Honing operations.
• Understanding of GD&T, engineering drawings, SPC, and quality tools.
• Hands-on experience in production planning, manpower deployment, and line management.
• Knowledge of OEE monitoring and productivity improvement techniques.
• Familiarity with IATF 16949, TPM, Lean Manufacturing, and 5S practices.
