Job Description Summary
**
As a Lead Engineer (LPB2) within the CM&U ITR Design Engineering organization, you will provide technical leadership for the execution of Steam Turbine (ST) and Generator (GEN) upgrade and retrofit projects focused on accessory systems. You will be responsible for delivering innovative and reliable engineering solutions for both fluid and mechanical systems, including steam and oil delivery systems, enclosures, on-base and interconnect piping and associated auxiliary equipment.
The role requires end-to-end ownership of engineering deliverables across both Inquiry to Order (ITO) and Order to Remittance (OTR) phases, ensuring compliance with customer requirements, industry standards, quality expectations and project schedules. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, support field issue resolution and mentor engineers while driving continuous improvement, standardization and business initiatives.

Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead and execute accessory systems scope for ST/GEN CM&U projects across ITO and OTR phases with full technical ownership and minimal supervision.
- Develop innovative, reliable and cost-effective engineering solutions for Steam Turbine and Generator accessory systems.
- Own system and hardware design activities, including P&IDs, schematics, equipment specifications, calculations and detailed drawings.
- Perform engineering analyses and validate designs to ensure compliance with customer requirements, GE standards and applicable industry codes.
- Review and approve supplier designs and analyses, driving optimized technical and commercial solutions.
- Utilize engineering tools such as AutoPIPE, FloInhance, STAAD, HYSYS and related applications to support project execution.
- Lead technical design reviews, risk identification and mitigation activities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Collaborate effectively with Applications, Requisition Engineering, PMO, Sourcing, Systems Engineering, PEM and global engineering teams.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to engineers and serve as a technical review/approval backup within the team.
- Support the field core team during outage execution through Emergency Response (ER), Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and fleet issue resolution.
- Drive standardization, cost-out, productivity and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product competitiveness.
- Ensure compliance with applicable industry codes and standards including ASME, API, IEC, NEC, ATEX and relevant regional regulations.
- Drive On-Time Delivery (OTD), quality and customer satisfaction by balancing technical rigor with execution excellence.
- Interface with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve technical issues and ensure successful project outcomes.
- Lead business and operational initiatives that support organizational goals and strengthen engineering capability.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from a reputed institution.
- Minimum 5–7 years of experience in Combined cycle power plant engineering, specifically with strong knowledge of accessory systems associated with Steam Turbines, Generators and Gas Turbines.
- Demonstrated experience in system design, engineering analysis and project execution.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical and decision-making skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, presentation and stakeholder management skills.
- Customer-facing experience with the ability to manage technical discussions effectively.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
Desired Characteristics
- Field experience supporting GE and/or Alstom Steam Turbines and Generators.
- Knowledge of Heavy-Duty Gas Turbine and Combined Cycle Power Plant engineering processes.
- Experience with PLM tools and digital engineering platforms.
- Strong understanding of piping systems, fluid systems and accessory equipment integration.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment.
- Proven success delivering complex engineering projects while meeting quality, cost and schedule commitments.
