Job Overview

Citi is looking for an Applications Developer to join its Technology team and contribute to the design, development, and enhancement of mission-critical business applications using Angular or Java Spring Boot. In this role, you will work at the intersection of engineering and business, translating complex requirements into reliable, well-tested software that supports Citi's global operations. This is an opportunity to build your technical foundation within a collaborative team environment that values quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop application features and system enhancements using Angular for UI development or Java Spring Boot for API and backend development, depending on your area of focus.
• Analyze technical and business requirements to identify system gaps and define practical, scalable solutions that align with industry standards.
• Build, test, and debug application code using scripting tools and structured testing practices to ensure functionality meets design specifications.
• Investigate and resolve application issues by evaluating root causes, assessing solution options, and implementing effective fixes.
• Apply knowledge of business processes and system workflows to make informed, evaluative decisions when standard procedures do not cover a given scenario.
• Develop familiarity with Citi's broader technology ecosystem, including client-server architecture, database administration, and enterprise application standards.
• Identify and escalate potential risks or control concerns with clarity, supporting sound decision-making and regulatory compliance in all development activities.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• 2- 4 years of experience in software development, application programming, or a related technical discipline.
• Hands-on experience writing, testing, and debugging code in business application contexts.
• Working knowledge of at least relevant programming language, with practical exposure to either Angular (TypeScript, component-based UI development) or Java Spring Boot (RESTful API development, backend services).
• Familiarity with industry-standard software development practices, patterns, and conventions.
• Ability to analyze information, draw logical conclusions, and communicate technical recommendations clearly in both written and verbal formats.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Beneficial Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with both frontend (Angular) and backend (Java Spring Boot) development, enabling contribution across the full application stack.

• Exposure to client-server application development, network operations, or database administration in an enterprise environment.

• Familiarity with version control systems, CI/CD pipelines, or automated testing frameworks commonly used in application development workflows.
