Finance Controller – Fixed Assets & Capex Management 

Position Summary 

The Finance Controller– Fixed Assets & Capex Management will be responsible for driving governance, reporting, and financial control over Capital Expenditure (Capex), Capital Work-in-Progress (CWIP), Fixed Assets, and Depreciation. The role requires close coordination with Plant Finance, Engineering, Projects, Procurement, and Business teams to ensure timely capitalization of assets, accurate financial reporting, and compliance with accounting policies and internal controls. 

Key Responsibilities 

1. CWIP Governance & Capitalization

 

• Conduct periodic review of CWIP balances across business units. 

• Monitor project-wise CWIP ageing and follow up with stakeholders for timely completion and capitalization. 

• Identify long ageing and dormant CWIP balances and drive corrective actions. 

• Review CWIP line items to ensure appropriate classification and identify items requiring charge-off to Opex. 

• Ensure compliance with capitalization policies and accounting standards.

 

2. Capex Monitoring & Cash Flow Management

 

• Track Capex spend. 

• Prepare and submit monthly Capex cash flow reports and forecasts. 

• Partner with project teams and business stakeholders to improve forecasting accuracy.

 

3. Idle Assets Management

 

• Drive periodic identification, review, and reporting of idle assets. 

• Coordinate with plant, engineering, and business teams for redeployment, sale, or disposal of idle assets. 

• Monitor idle asset ageing and provide actionable insights to management.

 

4. Fixed Assets Accounting & Month-End Closure

 

• Lead fixed asset month-end closing activities. 

• Review asset additions, transfers, retirements, and disposals. 

• Ensure completeness and accuracy of Fixed Asset Register (FAR). 

• Perform/ Monitor Physical Verification activity within the scheduled timelines. 

• Support statutory, internal, and SOX audits by providing required analysis and documentation.

 

5. Depreciation Management

 

• Execute monthly depreciation runs in SAP and ensure timely closure. 

• Perform depreciation variance analysis against forecast, budget, and prior periods. 

• Investigate unusual movements and coordinate resolution with stakeholders.

 

6. Reporting & Management Information

 

• Prepare monthly dashboards and presentations for senior management. 

• Generate reports covering:  

• CWIP ageing 

• Capex cash flow 

• Capitalizations 

• Idle assets 

• Depreciation trends

 

7. Controls, Compliance & Process Improvement

 

• Ensure adherence to accounting policies, internal controls, and regulatory requirements. 

• Support implementation of automation and digital initiatives related to asset management. 

• Identify opportunities for process improvements, standardization, and simplification. 

• Participate in system enhancement projects involving SAP, ServiceNow, and other finance platforms. 

• CA / CMA 

• 2-3 years of experience in Fixed Assets, Capex Accounting, Controllership, or Corporate Finance. 

• Strong understanding of Ind AS / IFRS fixed asset accounting. 

• Experience in manufacturing or pharmaceutical industry preferred. 

• Hands-on experience with SAP (FI-AA, PS, MM modules preferred).
