Our Employee Relations team⭐

We’re looking for an experienced

Employee Relations Advisor

to join our Employee Relations team and help us create fair, consistent and genuinely positive people experiences across Monzo.

You’ll partner closely with managers, People Partners and teams across the wider People Collective, providing specialist advice on complex and higher-risk employee relations matters across our global locations, specifically the

UK and EU

.

This is a role where you’ll be trusted to use your judgement. You’ll help managers navigate difficult situations with clarity, empathy and confidence, balancing employment law and risk with what’s fair, practical and right for Monzo and our people.

As Monzo continues to grow internationally, you’ll also bring experience of working across different employment landscapes. Experience supporting Employee Relations at a Global scale is particularly important for this role, alongside an understanding of how ER approaches need to flex across different jurisdictions, cultures and legal frameworks.

You’ll be comfortable working independently, getting stuck into problems where the answer isn’t always obvious, and spotting opportunities to make things better. You’ll also be an escalation point for more complex ER matters, coach others to build their confidence and judgement, and contribute to projects that improve how we approach Employee Relations across Monzo.

🔑You’ll play a key role by...

• Being a trusted ER specialist: You’ll partner with managers and People Partners on complex, sensitive and higher-risk ER matters, giving clear, pragmatic advice and helping them reach fair and consistent outcomes.

• Supporting ER across our global locations: You’ll adapt your advice to different employment landscapes, taking account of local employment law, regulatory requirements, culture and established practices.

 

• Getting stuck into complex problems: You’ll independently support matters across performance, conduct, grievances, absence, capability, organisational change and other complex workplace issues, including situations where there isn’t an obvious answer.

• Helping managers own their decisions: We want our managers to feel confident managing their people. You’ll coach, advise and appropriately challenge them, while making sure ownership of decisions stays with the relevant manager.

• Being an escalation point: You’ll support ER colleagues with more complex or ambiguous cases, helping them think through risk, options and the best way forward rather than simply giving them the answer.

• Growing capability across the team: You’ll coach and mentor less experienced ER colleagues, sharing your knowledge and helping them develop their judgement, confidence and independence.

• Supporting employment disputes and litigation: You’ll support ACAS Early Conciliation, Employment Tribunal claims and other employment-related disputes, partnering closely with Legal, external counsel and other teams where needed.

• Keeping our ER foundations strong: You’ll make sure ER matters are properly documented and managed through our case management systems, with high standards of confidentiality, accuracy and data quality.

• Turning data into action: You’ll use ER and wider People data to spot trends, themes and emerging risks, getting underneath what’s driving them and turning those insights into practical recommendations.

• Making our policies and processes better: You’ll help design, review and improve People policies, processes and ER frameworks so they’re easy to use, fit for purpose and work across the different jurisdictions in which we operate.

• Building manager confidence: You’ll design and deliver training, knowledge shares and other interventions that help managers handle people matters confidently and consistently.

• Keeping us ahead of changes: You’ll stay curious about developments in employment law, case law, regulation and ER practice across our global footprint,

particularly Spain

, helping us understand what they mean for Monzo and what we might need to do differently.

• Making things better: You’ll lead and contribute to ER and wider People Collective projects, taking ownership from idea through to implementation and looking for ways we can make our ER approach simpler, stronger and more scalable.

🤩 We’d love to hear from you if…

• You’re an experienced

Employee Relations specialist

with strong practical knowledge of employment law and ER best practice, including experience supporting ACAS Early Conciliation and/or Employment Tribunal claims.

• You’re confident independently managing

complex, sensitive and higher-risk ER matters

, using sound judgement to balance legal and ER risk with fairness and practical business considerations.

• You’ve worked in a

global or multi-jurisdictional ER environment

and understand how to adapt your approach to different local employment laws, regulations, cultures and employment practices, including when to seek specialist local advice.

• You’re comfortable

challenging, influencing and building trusted relationships

with managers and senior stakeholders, combining empathy and diplomacy with appropriate challenge.

• You enjoy

coaching and developing others

, helping managers and colleagues build their own confidence and judgement rather than simply giving them the answer.

• You’re proactive and comfortable with ambiguity — you spot problems, risks and opportunities, get to the root of them and take ownership of finding practical solutions.

• You’re highly organised and able to manage multiple priorities and complex pieces of work while maintaining strong attention to detail.

• You’re comfortable using

data and insights

to identify trends, understand what’s driving ER activity and spot opportunities to improve how we do things.

• You care about creating

kind, fair and respectful people experiences

, particularly when navigating difficult or sensitive situations.

It’d be great, but isn’t essential, if you…

• Are CIPD qualified or have another relevant employment law or HR qualification.

• Have designed or implemented ER policies, frameworks, training or broader People

📍This role can be based in our London office, but we're open to distributed working within the UK (with ad hoc meetings in London)
