Design Engineer

Dodo Payments is the Monetisation Engine for AI-native products. We're a Merchant of Record + Billing & Monetization platform that helps SaaS, AI, and digital businesses accept payments globally, automate billing (subscriptions, usage-based,-time), and stay fully compliant with taxes and regulations in 220+ countries.

We absorb that complexity so our customers never have to think about it. Which means it lands in our product instead. Our users should never have to feel it.

• The Role:

We are looking for a Design Engineer to help make Dodo Payments of the best-crafted products in fintech. You might be a designer who learned to code because handing off Figma was not enough, or an engineer who kept opening Figma because the interface was not good enough. Either way you care deeply about both.

You will sit directly between design and engineering, across dashboard, checkout, billing,, analytics, and new products. You will explore ideas visually, prototype them quickly, and often build the final thing yourself. Sometimes the fastest way to answer a design question is Figma. Sometimes it is 100 lines of code.

• Responsibilities:

• Design and Build: Turn complicated payment concepts into surprisingly simple interfaces, and ship the production UI in React yourself.

• Prototyping: Explore and validate interactions quickly, before we commit engineering time to them.

• Interface Craft: Obsess over typography, hierarchy, density, motion, and state. Use motion and interaction where they genuinely improve understanding, and not where they do not.

• 0 to 1 Product: Design and build new product experiences from scratch, starting from ambiguous problems.

• Systems and Primitives: Create the components and patterns that make the rest of Dodo better, without disappearing into a design system that never ships product.

• Raising the Bar: Improve existing experiences instead of accepting "it works," and push back when something is not good enough.

• Collaboration: Work directly with engineers, product, and founders on product decisions.

You will have a lot of room to define Dodo's visual and interaction language. We expect you to use it.

• Qualifications:

• Experience: 2+ years designing and building production web interfaces, in a role that spanned both.

• Figma: Excellent with Figma as a thinking and prototyping tool, not just a handoff surface.

• Code: Comfortable writing React and TypeScript, and shipping your own work to production.

• Visual Taste: Strong visual judgment, and the ability to explain why something works.

• Interaction and Motion: Care for how interfaces move and respond. Framer Motion, Rive, GSAP, Three.js or similar is useful, but a particular library is not the point. Being able to make the thing in your head real is.

• Speed: You prototype extremely quickly and are comfortable starting from an ambiguous problem.

• Judgment: You know when simplicity takes more work, not less.

• Team Spirit: Experience in startups or dynamic high-growth environments is preferred.
