Shelter maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in geographic location, education, training, skills, relevant work experience, business needs and market demands.  Please remember that this range is the starting base pay and does not consider other components that make up the total rewards package for the position.

• What You Will Be Doing:

Model catastrophe risk and portfolio exposure for direct P&C and domestic and international assumed reinsurance. Provide analytics for underwriting, pricing, reinsurance, enterprise risk management, reserving, capital, and rating-agency activities. Report to the Reinsurance Actuary and Catastrophe Risk Modeler.

• What We’re Looking For:

• Knowledge of catastrophe modeling and exposure management.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and detail-oriented skills; translates complex results into actionable insights.
• Works independently within established priorities and appropriately escalates material issues or judgment-based decisions.
• Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, engineering, meteorology, finance, economics, data science, actuarial science, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent experience required.
• Catastrophe modeling, insurance, or reinsurance development or designations, such as CPCU or ARe, preferred but not required.
• Typically requires 1–2 years of catastrophe modeling, exposure management, portfolio analytics, insurance, reinsurance, or related quantitative experience.
• Catastrophe modeling, accumulation analysis, and insurance or reinsurance portfolio analytics experience typically required.
• Catastrophe risk analysis supporting reserving, capital, or financial risk management decisions preferred.
• Enterprise risk management analytics or reporting experience.
• Ability to perform essential functions of the job, with or without a reasonable accommodation.
